What a small world! I live in Cedar Grove-off Lemoyne Blvd and have lived here most of my life. My email is greatscottsc@gmail.com and I am on Facebook. i am a local crafter who makes "funky yard art" out of salvaged wood and recyled and repurposed items. You should come to the Herb and Garden Fest on the 27th of this month at The Depot in Ocean Springs! It's always one of the better garden shows around here. I'll be a vendor selling birdhouses, patio plaques and garden stakes! There are always wonderful vendors selling locally raised and native plants that will thrive in our area!

If you get another freeze, put a plastic bag over the sagos, and put a rock on the edge to hold the bag down. Make sure to take the bag(s) off after it's warmed a little (just in case...and good luck).

Well I do hope you don't have any more freezes there. A cut on many types of plants before the last freeze exposes the plant to potentially dying from watering entering the wounded area, freezing, expanding and rupturing the inner workings of the planting.

By the way Kate, I have two Sagos as well. Each year the fronds get whacked by a freeze. After the last freeze I cut them off to the base of the plant and they all grow back out and do find (so far at least). They also like a special fertilizer...you need to look that up. Palm trees in general have unique nutrient requirements.
