Ah! Spring time in Minnesota; black rotting snow, playing pothole slalom and the smell of hot asphalt in the air. It's a little early this year. I'm betting on one more blizzard, about April. Meanwhile those of you in more southerly latitudes are posting and tweeting: The crocuses are blooming! The robins are singing! Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Nature is funny, I just try to describe it. A few of us Minnesotans have been noting that if anyone showed up for the first time to this state in March, they'd wonder what ugly alien planet they landed upon. Here's hoping for an early spring....

Hi Rhonda: Each time I read this post, I just have to giggle. (I presume you meant to be funny!) It is just so reminiscent of the usual March here in central NY. But for some reason, this year, our March has been relatively warm with some early greening and "birding". Surely, we too, will get more snow, and we get some greaaaaat potholes!! Thanks for sharing.

Well I have several sources of water, 3 bird baths and our waterfall in our pond. Never had this problem before. I have always had hummers. Just wondering if the winter weather we had messed them up. Oh well maybe next year.
