Where are all the Robin's and song birds in South Jersey? My garden is usually filled with birds in the summer. The birds started to disappear in mid July. The only birds around are a few Doves. Could the extreme prolonged heat be the problem?

We had an herb farm for a few years as I got started later in life around 60 yrs old but loved it. Now its to much work for my husband anI. I graduated from Clayton College of Natural hHealth as a certified Master Herbalist and also went to school to be a reflexologist. I still grow herbs to make medicine and teas as well as cooking. Once the last of the weeds were pulled, Darryl and I stashed the garden tools, his chair and book in the car and spent the remaining daylight strolling about the park.

Without getting into a big discussion about rotating the place one plants tomatoes (although if you'd like to comment on that please do), this is a question I am asking not just for myself but for my sister.
Does anyone have any recommendations/information/stories on green manure? Do you plant it? It is to enrich the soil, yes? I have a decent sized garden and have been able to not plant tomatoes in *quite* the same place every year, but some people just don't, i.e. my sister.
