Hi folks. Sunday night. A good day. Killing off grass on the lake lawn. Have designed 4 new conifer beds for there with 5 foot trails winding through them. Will build 1 at a time. Sprayed the grass on the 3rd largest beds today (half way)...big beds…

How Dad makes his garden sculptures

I've been asked how dad makes his sculptures...each has some unique approaches, but in general 1- design on paper, 2- welds rebar into basic structure, 3- welds on steel to develop outer 'skin' and inner completed structure, 4- hammers, cuts and grinds into shape, 5- welds on brass & bronze for details and finish, 6- reshapes/redo as needed, and then 7- powder coats the whole piece..a large piece typically takes 2-3 months with a lot of time involved

Thanks, Willis on the tip on the bottlebush. Growing in a 1ft x 10ft lined bog garden designed to catch the condensation off my air conditioner. Says up to 12 ft. Don't know if I'll keep it there or move, may not make it elsewhere without lots of water, most of my growing is cactus.

Hey Willis, just stopping by to say hi and wish you a happy Friday! It's going to be in the 90's today and tomorrow. The daylilies are still going strong but the squash is squashed. Bummer.

Willis...We love you and we're all missing you in the lounge! Sometimes we just need to graciously agree to disagree and take it from there. We have many more things in common than we maybe think sometimes...friendship is one. Extending my hand to you!!!

Diane, sorry for not making my message more clear - my reminder was about those shrubs that need to be scaled down and in my region (zones 5 & 6) the buds for the next season form on new growth in August so cutting the brunches after July would have…

Love this flower. Never was able to grow it though. Thought it was called queen Anns Lace. I think it adds charm to the garden.

Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
