Weeping Cherry Tree
I purchased a little Weeping Cherry Tree, only 6 inches tall. I transplanted it into a bigger pot, it's grown about an inch taller, but the branches have grown twice the size that they were originally. my question is, should I cut a branch off, so the tree will grow taller, or should I leave it alone? I thought that the branches are taking all the nutrients from the little trunk. Who knows about trees?

- I'm pretty sure you're most likely done digging up grass for your flower beds, but have you ever tried the Garden Claw? I was a weakling when it came to physical labor outside earlier this past spring... The Claw made it possible for me to dig up all that pesky grass in my backyard to make room for my flowers, trees and shrubs. It worked great because all you do is shove it into the ground, twist, and pull!!!! It's too bad I had to give it back to my sister-in-law because I'd have much less grass than I do now, and WAY more flowers (if that's possible, LOL). We need more pics!!! Show us your progress!!!! Happy gardening!

- Heavenly Blue Morning-Glory is a hybrid and when it produces seed, the seedlings always come up as having the purple flowers of one of the parents and usually hairy stems too. One must always replant Heavenly Blue seed.

If you prune the branches it will put it's growing energy into making more or longer branches instead of growing a taller and sturdier trunk....and of course fertilize. Good luck with it. They are beautiful in full bloom in the spring.

I read your Weeping Cherry questions. I have grown many Weeping Cherry Trees. What is the purpose of putting it in a pot? Do you have it outside? You don't mention where you live (what gardening zone) so I'm not sure of what advice to give. I never purchased one shorter than 4 or 5 feet tall. If you want it to flourish in your yard/garden somewhere...I would plant it there and let it start to grow in the ground for the summer. It might do better...really depends upon how harsh your winters are. The branches do grow longer than the trunk is tall. Mine all hit the ground and then some. If you go to my page and go through my photos you will find a photo of one in full bloom that I took this spring. Hope I was helpful.
