@Leilani, that happens all the time out here in sunny so cal. The spring-time weather can be very tricky out here; this occurs from a combination of heat and lack of water. I've noticed with our cool springs to be very careful watering, as of recent…
Superbloom is the best fertilizer I have used, but you have to apply it at least once a month during the flowering season. Every 2 weeks actually. While they are putting on leaves, use a water soluble fertilizer with a higher nitrogen content then s…
Home Depot is selling 3-gallon potted Plumeria for $19.98, available in assorted colors. I've never seen them in stores before and was very surprised to see this ad.
I am going to start picking candidates of plants to keep then take the others and hack them to pieces and give away the cuttings. It takes a few years to figure out which Plumeria you want to plant permanently in your yard. I should have it done by…
hi steve, i have pink, yellow and white plumerias. some of mine have produced seeds but they got broken off and i never got to plant them. ive had plumerias for about 15 years now. i have some 8 ft tall but i think im going to be cutting them down this year. its hard getting 8 ft plants in my garage every winter. you have some good plant tips. sounds like you know them very well. linda in texas
Hey PJ! Plumeria is not that common here, but it is around. Once you start collecting them like I do, it is very easy to pick them out even while driving.
Hey Eloise! To keep them alive you have to follow just a few basics. Give them at least 6 hours of direct sun per day. The more the better. They love water but hate wet feet. Make sure they have good drainage. Make sure you feed them during the growing season a fertilizer high in phosphorous (the middle number on fertilizer) I use Superbloom by Greenlight. Use it every 14 days during the growing season. If you have any other questions, please let me know!
Clare, your Pinky Winky is beautiful - love the blooms and the pink coloring of the branches too. My paniculatas Pee Gee and Limelight are already blooming too, about a month ahead of schedule! Now I am wondering whether I should have done reshaping…
Diane, sorry for not making my message more clear - my reminder was about those shrubs that need to be scaled down and in my region (zones 5 & 6) the buds for the next season form on new growth in August so cutting the brunches after July would have…
Crazy rainstorm last night, ripped down half the ivy on the wall. Had to cut it down, so I figured what the heck I'll collect snails in my garden. Armed with chopsticks (they make it way easy to gather up tiny guys under plants if you are profficent…
Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
