Thanks for all the advice everyone, but all six plants expired! I got them from a nursery with a one year guarantee though, so I'll be giving it another shot ... I've got the beds all ready and a friendly hawk hangs in the cemetery across the street…

This rose bush was supposed to be a blue rose ... does anyone know if soil ph affects rose colors like it does some other flowers?
Isn't it though? It's the first time I'd ever seen two like that! I wonder if I've just never noticed before because the second one is so faint compared to the brighter one?

I usually start with Pansies when I get the itch to plant - they tolerate cold weather, but I do wait a bit and plant them…
