Kristen... I am honored to know someone with an ISBN number! I'm sure I must know someone else with one, but I never thought of it in that way before. You are a bona fide author! Congrats and thank you for the kind words.

I agree also Leah that your photos/book are fantastic. I wish I had known about something like blurb when I searched for a self publishing company. A year ago I put together photos along with my journal writings. The book was printed and published w…

you own photos and copy rights

no, you own the copy rights

I think with Shutterfly, you own the photos, but if you make the book public (in their gallery) you give up rights to the book. Their logic is that they own the format that your pictures are in, so they can use for promotions, etc. You can go to the…

Once you publish your pics there, does the site have ownership of the photos? Can the site use these photos for their own purposes?

Thanks.. my problems with Blurb weren't with the pictures... it was the text! Nothing I wanted to add seemed to fit right. Either the font wasn't right or didn't fit. I just couldn't find any combination that worked for me. I also found it much hard…

Your book is very soothing, nice job. The number of pixels vs. the size photo is what's giving you a waring sign. You may not notice pixelation in sunset photos because detail is not as critical. Close up photos may look grainy. I have 10 mg's but w…

Hi Leah... Maybe it was just me or my computer, but I had a very hard time with Blurb. Everything I did triggered a warning sign. So I returned to Shutterfly and did the book I wanted. Here's the link... http://community.shutterfly.com/gallery/post/

Leah, Your garden book is absolutely beautiful...actually I'm speechless! There's no doubt that you have inspired many gardeners including myself. I completely agree with Susan Scimeca when she said, "you have much to be proud of"!

Your book is fantastic! So professional and polished. And your gardens are just beautiful, such an inspiration. Your photos are crisp and sensitive. Just a delight!

Thanks...I think my camera is fine, but the colors come out different when Shutterfly prints them. I use a Canon Power Shot SX100 IS with a 10X zoom. It has 8.0 mega pixels. What do you use?

You did a very nice job on your books and what a beautiful view you have! Thank you for sharing it with me. If your not happy with photo quality make sure your camera has enough pixels for the size of photos you're printing.

I've used Shutterfly for books in the past for family events, etc., but sometimes I'm not happy with the picture quality. I take a lot of sunset pics and would like to do a book for those to use as gifts. I really appreciate the info. Here's a link…

I did take all of the photos. Most were taken with my new Cannon PowerShot SX10 IS. A few was with my old Olympus 10X but it didn't have enough pixels. I hope one day to buy an SLR. I just haven't been able to justify the cost.

Clare, your Pinky Winky is beautiful - love the blooms and the pink coloring of the branches too. My paniculatas Pee Gee and Limelight are already blooming too, about a month ahead of schedule! Now I am wondering whether I should have done reshaping…

Diane, sorry for not making my message more clear - my reminder was about those shrubs that need to be scaled down and in my region (zones 5 & 6) the buds for the next season form on new growth in August so cutting the brunches after July would have…

Crazy rainstorm last night, ripped down half the ivy on the wall. Had to cut it down, so I figured what the heck I'll collect snails in my garden. Armed with chopsticks (they make it way easy to gather up tiny guys under plants if you are profficent…

Love this flower. Never was able to grow it though. Thought it was called queen Anns Lace. I think it adds charm to the garden.

Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
