A lady remarked to her neighbor that her tomatoes were always green. The neighbor told her at 12:00 in the morning, to go walk naked in her garden, and her tomatoes would turn red. She tried it that evening. The next day her neighbor asked if her to…
The Real Reason. Adam was so happy when God created Eve for companionship and also to help out in the garden. As much as he enjoyed gardening - it was very time-consuming, when you did it all alone. One day, Eve was busy weeding and Adam had slipped…
Our women's group had a guest speaker. The subject was "Weeding for the Blind." Well, I thought that would be so helpful if I had to come to our Children's Garden at night and weed. I could use all the tips I could get and be able to weed in the dar…
try contacting your local co-op or entemology department at your college. Send them the picture and they can probably identify it for you. I have never seen them in Michigan
This bug is rusty orange, various shades. It has camouflage on it legs which look like dried leaves. It blends right in on the plant. I've lived in Florida for 26 years and never noticed it before.
What is this insect? Has camouflage on it's back legs that look like dried up leaves. It can fly.I lived in Florida 26 years, and never noticed it before.
So great to have a place for gardener lovers. I think I've found a piece of heaven on my computer. Glad we can share photos and tips. I think you'll be hearing from me.
Hi Jean, I hope you are doing well. Good to hear from you. I'm not sure what happened to pets in the garden. It does seem to be gone.
Thanks for the contact about native plants. I'll make sure to send AnnMarie a note. Take care.
Your pictures are beautiful!
My husband and I are hoping to move to Florida some time, we visit the Key's,
Marco Island and naples every year.
I am always admiring the plants there and dream of haveing a grapfruit tree in our yard.
Hi, Jean boy are we on the same page, I too love the serenity of being in the garden, it's a peaceful place. It's such a great idea having the children's garden, I love the idea of the stepping stone and the bible quotes, I think I will mention this to the childrens ministry at church, it's something I would be willing to help out with. Putting things in the childrens garden that they can climb under like tepee's with climbing plants, sweet pea's would be a good one, my neighbor has a tree that looks like a umbrella, something that the kids could play under. Love, love the idea, and I love the name you picked out for the group, thanks for sharing this with me, you've put your passion for garden to good use and will give the kids an appreciation for the beautiful things in nature that God created. I bet it puts a smile on a lot of faces.
A friend gave me a Frangipani last year, although I didn't know it's name until seeing it in your pictures just now. Mine is supposed to bloom pink, and that's about all I know about it. It's in a pot and has to be brought in for the winter. Any tips you have would be welcomed. They seem to tolerate drought and moisture, but I'm not sure what is best.
Hi Jean,
Seeing the photo of the poinciana tree makes me want to be in the tropics. If I remember, they usually bloom in May. The orange and green against the deep blue sky is great.
Well I have several sources of water, 3 bird baths and our waterfall in our pond. Never had this problem before. I have always had hummers. Just wondering if the winter weather we had messed them up. Oh well maybe next year.
Clare, your Pinky Winky is beautiful - love the blooms and the pink coloring of the branches too. My paniculatas Pee Gee and Limelight are already blooming too, about a month ahead of schedule! Now I am wondering whether I should have done reshaping…
Diane, sorry for not making my message more clear - my reminder was about those shrubs that need to be scaled down and in my region (zones 5 & 6) the buds for the next season form on new growth in August so cutting the brunches after July would have…
Crazy rainstorm last night, ripped down half the ivy on the wall. Had to cut it down, so I figured what the heck I'll collect snails in my garden. Armed with chopsticks (they make it way easy to gather up tiny guys under plants if you are profficent…
Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
What housework-What cooking-I am delegating so that I can go out in my gardens.Besides my gardens I am on my computer watching the lovely new photos come up on "latest activity" HELP I am soo hooked. Don't want to change. Don't want to give it up ei…
