Growing my words!

I've been spending time growing words since last I wrote! My garden is growing too, but it's had to take a back seat to my 'real' work! Today I set up my website, Living in the Outlands:

http://web.me.com/ilsedaniel/Ilse_Daniel/Living_in_the_Outlands.html

It contains a link to this site and to my new blog page, One More Cup of Coffee:

http://ilsedaniel.blogspot.com/

This is just a start and I hope to spend a lot more time adding to and expanding both these pages.

My sweet William seeds have… Continue

My Story

Well, folks, I finally finished my story! I submitted it last night, now all I have to do is wait! The butterfly flower seeds I planted have sprouted as have many, many poppy seeds. Out of the whole packet of spinach seeds only two have germinated!!!! The stock and sweet william are also showing! I'm very pleased and hope the mice and rats won't eat them! There'll be a lot of weeping here if that happens!

I won't to clear up a misapprehension that has occurred: someone, I can't remember who, go… Continue

Saving seeds!

This is just a quickie post! I found this link about saving seeds:

http://www.flowergardennews.com/Saving_Seeds-Collecting_Drying_and_Storing_Seeds_from_the_Flower_Garden.html

I think I may have collected the abutillons too early - we'll see! I also got some lavender heads the other day that were just about to go to seed, so I hope I did that correctly. The arum lily head is just sitting in the dish and doesn't seem to be drying out very quickly! It's quite fleshy, so I suppose that's to be ex… Continue

Taking the plunge!

I just took the plunge and created a San Francisco group! It's still awaiting approval and has only a membership of one - me! Yesterday I sewed twelve pots of seeds! I'm also collecting abutillon flowers and will be drying the seeds. In a non-gardening context: I've started writing a short story to enter in an Esquire competition! It's been several days of plunges! What fun!

Today my little Jakob became a hunter: he caught a mouse and killed it! It was very quick! I don't think the mouse knew w… Continue

Hiccups!

Our wonderful frugal forum has had a hiccup! The idea that it would serve member's needs to organise the discussions in such a way as to make it easier to find others great ideas caused a frenzy of upset! I hope it's ended now. I became upset when it seemed my wonderful friend, Connie, was being attacked and took the bull by the horns in her defence. Last night Diane thought I thought she should get a lashing for her remarks, which had set me off in the first place. Of course I don't! Probably s… Continue

Hi Ilse,
I'm not exactly tiny (5'7")- that's a close-up of Remy. I'm not sure of the zone for Cary (Raleigh). I moved here 3+ yrs ago from the Buffalo, NY area where I had lots of gardens (parterres). I now live in a twnhse so my gardening is limited to the area on & around my deck (hydrangeas, vinca, vinca, mandevilla, hibiscus, tuberous begonias, & new guinea impatiens--love the pastels & blues in summer. That's ok for me...I don't need the acre any longer. It gets pretty hot here in the summer-90s, so I try to keep perennials & drought tolerant plants. I use Peter's fertilizer each week & everything this year seems to be doing well.

Yes, Remy is a 'toy' poodle but small for his type (6.5 lbs)...he's 9 yrs old but still a baby...i guess that's natural for poodles...smart & spoiled!

By "circles" we mean of course neutron "orbits." Repulsion happens under a-b = a/b = c and so the seed knoows to grow and divide two ways simultaneously.

Oh yes, in front of her is a penile teapot and an apple with a love letter underneath it. She is wearing faille gloves of orange-red that make her hands look as if they've been dipped in jello ... biafra. There is a tiny heart directly on the tip of her nose and there are hearts everywhere in the painting, left there by the Queen (perhaps) .... or King (the one with the poised sword (perhaps). Let pi + d = pi * d = C. By normal algebra you will find that C = 4.708 or so because both pi^2 / (pi - 1) and d^2 / (d-1) = C and the former gives way to evaluation. Also n(pi + d) = n(pi*d) = nC so it is true for any size or number of circle(s),

Hi Ilse and friends!
I am the painter of the portrait of Ilse. It took 47.5 hours to do. She is wearing a Mad Hatter's hat with large white rabbit ears on each side sticking out. She is sitting in a golden chair that has schizophrenic calligraphy in tiny detail in the crannies and creases and edges in red pen. The painting otherwise was done in acrylics. Behind her is a window with a hummingbird (god/dess). Beside her is a Martin guitar and a foil mirror down the wall with elaborate candelabra etc. "frothing" from it as if grown metal. Her right hand with a cup of tea has moved and is Buddhic in several positions. There are images of the war in her blouse's tummy as if she has digested without ill effect. As a joke, she has what I call a kind of Mussorsgky (sp?) moustache if you look at it one way, as a kind of an in-joke between us politically, as I am a fascist. Just kidding. Not? I do not believe in NOT and am a Possibilitist. a+b = a*b = c is an example of Neutral Operations, my theory of how neutrons started creation, as hydrogen has none in its natural state -- but so? That's for a later painter?

I published a book just a year ago this month. I am not by any means a 'writer' but have been journaling since I was in grade school. In the last ten years I started taking photographs that inspired feelings that I could write about or I had feelings that I could find nature inspired photos to go with. You are welcome to check a couple of sites out.

Hello from Iowa...not even close to the wild west. But I had to tell you how much I enjoyed your poetry and prose on your 'new' blog. We seem to have much in common. Did you paint your profile picture? I am from a very artsy family and seems my children have inherited much of it also. I will continue to read your work....thanks for sharing.

Well I have several sources of water, 3 bird baths and our waterfall in our pond. Never had this problem before. I have always had hummers. Just wondering if the winter weather we had messed them up. Oh well maybe next year.

Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
