Okay, long story short...got back from Vancouver, B.C. last night. My 3-day trip into Canada was as follows...by cell phone (my son's) I made contact with my wife and met her at the car rental agency on Friday afternoon. Visited our car in the "lock…

Thanks Nancy, yes, my wife and others are okay. Seems my wife was going through on a yellow light and another driver made a left turn in front of her. Don't know the extent of the damage, but the airbags did not deploy, so it couldn't have been too…

Tomorrow, I'm heading to Vancouver, BC to pick up my wife, her sister and friend. My wife got into a car accident up there while on her trip and had to get a rental car to make it the rest of the way. Our car still hasn't been worked on so I'll be m…

Well, well, well. Fifty-seven pages of posts and I scanned most of it, but I'm still not sure what all happened. Moving on...Yes, I did take our pooch with me on my trip. I took her to the vet on Wednesday to have her stitches removed. It healed ni…

Sheri, I'm only six months older than Laurel and I grew up in the Bay Area and frequented San Francisco. We (possibly) could have crossed paths at some point in time. Interesting and challenging life she led, thanks so much for sharing it with us he…

I planted a bottle tree seed...a bottle cap...but it apparently didn't germinate. So...I've got no pictures to show for my efforts. Maybe I'll try a wine cork next time and see what comes up. What kind of pollination is required for ruby red or coba…

Sorry Sheri, GREAT ideas you've shown here. I'd have responded sooner, but I was out in my garden polishing the silverware...

Gardening temporarily on hold...

I still pull an occasional weed and water my container plants, but other garden pursuits are on hold.

Why?

Three weeks ago, my DW suggested I repaint the outside of our house this summer. I'm not stupid. "Suggestions" from my DW are considered and then acted upon. Lest you think I'm hen-pecked, number two son and I had started the house-painting project two years ago, but we only completed the west side. Last summer, all my children had summer jobs so I skipped that year. I am overdue in retur… Continue

Doggie Deterrent still in question...

While my wife was kayaking with her sister on Puget Sound (near San Juan Island), she called me during one of her breaks and inquired about the fence. I told her about the dog not bothering me while I was out there and actually seeing a deer on our property.

She thought that was nice but...didn't we still want to put the fence up? In case the neighbors got lax and let their pooch out to roam once again?

Of course, I hesitated...I hoped I wouldn't have to install it after all. Or at least put i… Continue

Doggie Deterrent no longer needed???

It was in this freshly mown area on the right of the gravel road, where I was planning to install the new doggie deterrent (fence).

Who would believe it?

After spending all those hours (and days) constructing fence panels in the backyard (and neglecting my garden), I a… Continue

Doggie Deterrent

I completed another dozen trellis-like fence sections this afternoon.

I started working on it on Friday and now have 20 sections loaded into our Suburban.

Tomorrow morning after my daughter's dental visit, we'll pack the lot down to our property 90 miles down south and get it installed over the next two days. That will be 160 lineal feet of see-thru fencing to keep the neighbor's pooch from roaming my property leaving calling cards and threatening me while I'm mowing my grass (I hope). Slightl… Continue

Thanks for the video...I'll have to check it out when I get home, and I'm sure Larry will enjoy it to. Appreciate your thoughtfulness. That was some kind of "boo boo" on your car....it can be fixed...glad your wife wasn't hurt. At least you got to enjoy BC. It's so beautiful up there!

Harry, just while ago, you left a comment regarding the rose Zephirine Drouhin, asking what it was and where I purchased it. Here's the Heirloom Rose website - the link will bring you directly to the old garden roses they have on sale - however, the sale does end tomorrow. Thought you might like to check it out. ~Karen
