here in N. Carolina we call that a maypop vine,Apricot Vine, Purple Passion Flower, Passionflower, Passionvine, Passion Vine
Passiflora incarnata.... it grows wild in alot of places around here.... but it does have a beautiful flower
This is a passion fruit vine. There is a vine like this one in our school playground, the flowers are beautiful. This vine attracts monarch butterflies which itern lay their eggs on the leaves and hatch monarch catipillars. The catipillars form a ch…
I do grow mine in a pot. I repot it each spring before I move it outside. I ordered a new one from Gurneys this year and it is in a 2 1/2 gallon pot with w trellis about two feet tall. I let it grow up onto the fence and then in the fall I will trim…
I am in zone 4 and cut mine back so it is managable on a small trellis and bring it inside for the winter. I keep it in front of the sunniest window I have and it does fine. In spring I put it out during the day and bring it in at night until the te…
Diane, I had no idea that Passion Vine would come back in zone 6/7. I am going to try another one this year. I have planted them for the summer before, but I never gave any consideration that it would winter over in this zone. Do you keep it in a sh…
super phosphate will help with the color. if you want to go organic....don't know; I buy bags of super phosphate and apply in early spring to all flowering plants.

enjoying the beautiful weather in NW Arkansas. My iris and peony are beautiful.....
I agree that Wild and Son is a wonderful nursery. They have the most unusual daylilies and peonies of any nursery I've seen. We stopped there on the way from Illinois to Oklahoma and it was awesome to see all those fields in bloom.

This is a great place to get daylilies. If you live in New England - they are in Bethlehem, NH. If you go - they will actually go out in the field and dig them up for you.
If you want to feed your roses more organically, try banana peels and go to an organic garden site. There is lots of information out there for organic or natural gardening.
Did you ever get your hydrangea moved? I moved a Rhododendron 3 years ago because it didn't like where it was and it's doing amazing things now.

Hi Fama, thanks for your adding me as a friend, and your pictures are beautiful. As you know, I have been announcing my new website, and so far the responses have been from out-of-state which is fine, but wondering why CA gardeners are so unresponsive. I see Sara is growing Cosmos and I too am trying them for the first time, a nice tall showy flower.
The canna lilies come up to about my waist... so maybe 3 ft....and yeah, I can share with you . :) I've been reading that they are pretty hardy plants and you can transplant then just about anytime?! Do you know?
This year is the first time I've ever grown cosmos,,,,,,I just threw the seeds out and let them go, lol. I love them, they're low maintenance and pretty.
I love this site!! Thank you so much for telling me about it! I've got to take some more pictures to upload on here, though, and I think today may turn out to be a pretty enough day to do it, lol. I'd love to learn more!
So glad you have joined us! You are going to love this place. I posted to you on flower gardens about your being in NW Arkansas and only 1 hours away from me. I see you are in Harrison and I think it's closer to 2 1/2 or 3 hours. I love the cottage garden look too, but I'm a long ways off in this yard. I had the look in my old yard, but this one is much larger and it's taking me a while to fill it up.
Nancy, you said: "Karen A red door in Feng Shui is good luck."
After a few beers, that would translate to: "Shhh-Karen, a red door in Sheng Fooey ish good Yuck!"
Birds are really active the last few days. I've had Pinon Jays, Robins, Nashville Warblers, Grosbeaks, Tanagers, about 15 hummers and unidentified vireos, until this morning. Finally, I was able to get a couple photos of the Plumbeous Vireo. Please…
Every Spring there is at least one new piece about a mocking bird dive bombing some poor 5-9ers as they try to get into their buiding because of a close by nest. They really are interesting birds. I agree, inquisitive and outgoing but not mean.
Nice job Harry. Sounds like you have hard water. We had the same problem a few years ago. In our house we like to say, estimate the time to do a job. then double it!
