Hay bale gardening
Anyone here into straw gardening. I keep saying I am going to do it but have not yet. I would really like to start at least one to 4 hay bales this year.
I have done several lasagna gardens now, but not planting into the bale itself.

I need more evergreens and berries
I really think that living in the desert is so dank and depressing in the winter, when everything is dormant. I had a different house in the desert and had a lot more evergreens and in the winter there was always something to look at, now, it gives me ideas of what my project is going to be for this year, in part.

Freddy J. Hill said… - Dawn, I'm a collector of succulents in central OK. For my outside beds, I make sure they are raised, have lots of sharp grave, and lots of organic matter and perlite. I topdress them with stones. My potting mix is mostly homemade comost, perlite and sharp gravel (general (or all) purpose gravel from Lowes, right next to the dry concrete). My non-hardys are in pots, many of them are planted, pot deep in terraced beds; you get much more growth with the pots sunk in the earth. I now have 500 in my greenhouse.

This is the first year for our Candy Corn Vine out by my Mail box. Do any of you have any hints as to what to do with it over the winter. We are in level 5, is it best to bring it in over the winter or just to mulch it really well?
