Thanks, I live in zone 8/9 and I noticed that the lily of the nile look a lot like the allium and they never die back.
I was told if you sprinkle blood meal around the boarder of your garden where you are having a squirrel problem it will deter them.
The Allium will die back.
Can anyone tell me if Allium die back after they bloom or do the leaves remain?

- I looked at your pictures, lovely garden - but are those blue flowers allium or agapanthus? Alliums are a spring bulb, but agapanthus will bloom and stay all summer.
