You guys are wild! Look at the window,it's winter out there!
I have a gorgeous Dendrobium in my bedroom window,ESE facing. Gets direct light for a short time in the am,then BRIGHT the rest of the day. It's born 3 more blooms since I got it about 1 m…

Just got light here in Pittsburgh area. More snow..AGAIN! Dogs were out and now back napping. Birds aren't up yet so quite out there.
GydaMarie, I love your orchidariium. I made one myself from an old aquarium but am not using it this year. It is really hard to keep up when I have plants all over the house so I just decided to keep them downstairs with all the other plants.
I call my island in the kitchen my "tropical island" with cooler growing orchids and African violets...i use humidity trays, and we also have a humidifier going because of forced air heat in the house...it gets too dry for us, let alone the plants.
Your garden window is just beautiful! We've been keeping the Phals in an orchidarium that gets about 78 degrees during the day and then down to the low 60's at night. We have the lights on a timer as well as the fans and humidifier. I've only been g…

Birds at my feeder, chickadees, tufted titmice, cardinal pair, juncos, sparrows, wrens, aand one red bellied woodpecker.
This is one of the pictures that my grandson may look at for years. When I was a child (and it still may be around) there was a picture of the big snow in 1952 here in the Pittsburgh area. I haven't seen the picture for a long time but my sisters an…
The garden window is a bit cool but it is not the space for growing only showing what is in bloom. The temperature in the garden window is usually in the 60's. It would be too cold to bloom these plants. The growing area in the basement is about 70-…
Still snowing here..I will have to shovel the driveway around noon. I bought a new pond deicer and the guy at the garden center said it would melt through the ice but it hasn't! Worrying about my fish and frogs. I just have goldfish but some of them have been in the pond for almost 10 years. There are 4 frogs too. I may call them and complain.
Clare, your Pinky Winky is beautiful - love the blooms and the pink coloring of the branches too. My paniculatas Pee Gee and Limelight are already blooming too, about a month ahead of schedule! Now I am wondering whether I should have done reshaping…
Diane, sorry for not making my message more clear - my reminder was about those shrubs that need to be scaled down and in my region (zones 5 & 6) the buds for the next season form on new growth in August so cutting the brunches after July would have…
Crazy rainstorm last night, ripped down half the ivy on the wall. Had to cut it down, so I figured what the heck I'll collect snails in my garden. Armed with chopsticks (they make it way easy to gather up tiny guys under plants if you are profficent…
Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
What housework-What cooking-I am delegating so that I can go out in my gardens.Besides my gardens I am on my computer watching the lovely new photos come up on "latest activity" HELP I am soo hooked. Don't want to change. Don't want to give it up ei…
Thanks! Isn't it funny I was plotting today hopw to get rid of them entirely? (Because they get a little weedy.) I'll leave them up, because I like them too.
