Thank you for the wonderful compliments. I live in a house built in 1925 and have tried to maintain the original character inside and out so your comparison is a delightful confirmation.

Thank you Barbara. Yes we do. The only thing we don't do is the lawn chemicals...and the every other year lawn aeration. But we do the mowing, weeding, pruning, deadheading, etc, etc. Started with a forested piece of property, built our home and moved in January of 2000. A lot done in 10 years...but still lots more dreams in the works.

Barbara...I guess I didn't photograph the open side very well. LOL! Yes, the arch on the end is open and the hole is about 3" wide by 4" tall. (middle photo) I hope that the birds will find it to their liking!

My Brother made this for me a few years ago. I found the pattern in a magazine, gave it to him and the next week he had it done. :) He is so good at woodworking. I need to re-paint it again this winter.

What kind of gardening do you like to do?
mostly flowers and some veggies
How much time do you spend a week on average in your garden?
about six hours in the summer none in the winter because of the rain
I Live in the Pacific Northwest close to the coast in Washington State where we get about 120-140 inches of rain a year so we plant things that will survive the rain. Hydrangeas, Azeleas, Rhodys,Ferns and yes moss in the lawn all do quite well. I love Iris and this year because we are having a nice dry spell, they are putting on quite a show as are my daffodills and tulips, which are through blooming now. After joining this group I'm ready to dig everything up and replant but I'm afraid I wouldn't survive so will just have to enjoy what I have.
I love this time of year when all the perennials are blooming and all of the trees leaf out, and we do have trees..this is a logging town and you can't see the mountains for all the trees.
This is also the town where the book Twilight was written about so we are over run with young twilighters, I haven't read the book but it has brought a lot of people, mostly young, to our small town.
I'm ready to add pictures and would love to hear from anyone in this group

Bright sunny day

It looks like it's going to be another beautiful day here in the NW...spent a couple of hours taking out blackberries that had invaded the rhodies on the lower level and still have more to go and still have to mow the hayfield, then have to mow the lawn again so things look all spiffy for the 4th......have a new pot of sugar water brewing for those baby hummers as they are now emptying two a day, one large one and another smaller one. they are spoiled little guys as they like homemade better tha… Continue

Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
