I just purchase online a climbing rose called Iceberg. It looks beautiful. This is the first time I will have a climbing rose in my garden. Wondering what type of trellis or arch would be the best to train it on?

I dont know the answer to your question, but that would be an awesome topic for a group.

I love climbing roses. Right now I do not have but a couple of true climbers. Mine are part climbers, in that the canes get to about 10- 12 feet tall. My true climbers are supported by my metal porch rail, and they are not that big yet.

Blessings

Mary Ann,

I have several climbers on trellises. Be sure to make the trellis large. Each trellis is about 7 feed tall and 8 feet wide and supports 2 rose bushes. My husband and I built these. These were very easy to build.

THanks, I have a picture of it fully grown over an arch and it is in full bloom. Guess I will have to wait. A good friend told me about her.I am glad that I got them.

Hi Mary well for Iceberg since it's a really good and beautiful climber they seem to look more beautiful on a arch than on a trellis. They have the growth to reach 12 to 15 feet and all the Icebergs I've seen have been on arches. I believe it's because they are a very vigorously growing rose. If you decide to grow Iceberg on an arch you should plant two. One for each side.

THank you Randall. I will do that. Thanks for the info on the iceberg climber. I happened upon an online catalog and just had to get it. Glad you told me about the height. I think an arch now will be best.

Kay W, I would LOVE to know what rose this is!! I've painted and hung a trellis on the side of my front porch in preparation for the perfect hot pink climber. I've done so much research that my head hurts. And then...there it is!! In your garden!! Please tell me what rose your second picture shows. I will be forever grateful!!!

I do believe you are right Cathy. As for the camera, its just a simple Nikon Coolpix L18/L16 that I carry with me on my walks.
