I am in the phila region, some stuff i moved is heaving , however i water twice a day and put pine needles around everything which seemsd to do the trick of holding in the moisture.

So sorry I have not been on here in a while....must have clicked on the stop following button and was not getting emails that there were people on here.....sorry again.
Heat index today 100 in the Pgh. area....not doing anything outside at all. My garden is wilting as I type this and the 2 rain barrels are empty sooooooo......praying for rain. Pond is full of water lilies, needs topped off and my regular birds must be hiding in the woods to keep cool.

This is my newest hollyhock and a very UNWELCOME J. BEETLE.....going to put up traps this weekend.

Hi Silvia, I was told that if you sprinkle epsom salts or spray a solution of water/e.salts that it would help keep them more healthy and fight off black spot. They are beautiful looking, but still no tomatoes.

Good morning everyone! Was wondering if someone would have some info on why my tomato plants are not flowering. They look green and lush...really beautiful, but no flowers! They have been planted late April, they don't have full all day sun but most of them have 1/2 days sun. I did apply epsom salts in the spring and wonder if that might be why? Thanks.

Ann,

There's actually a Vegetable Gardens group that you might find more helpful than Pennsylvania.

I'm trying to get my vegetable garden started but the weather is so not cooperating with me. I just ordered a book garden composting so I hope to incorporate that method into my vegetable garden this year. I'm hoping for really large plump tomatoes and plentiful bell peppers, etc... too many veggies to mention. I'm so excited

Lydia, it sounds like you have a much bigger groundhog problem than I do! Funny thing is that our groundhog does not touch the tomatoes (although the chipmunks eat the ones that hang low on the plants). I guess that's because he is so obsessed with…

Thanks Mia and Tanya. These busy eaters will pretty much polish off all the Passion Vine leaves. Not to worry, they come back with a 'passion.'
