I have never gotten a new spike. I am hoping for one on my large Phal. One of my small ones is budding again on an existing spike. I would love to see more pictures as it progresses.

Here's a picture of one of the new spikes on my Oncidium Twinkle White. This spike isn't even as big around as a toothpick and is only maybe 2 inches long right now...but it is showing promise!

Good luck, Page...my Lady Slippers seem happy on my humidity trays in the kitchen...along with my Phals, Miltonopsis, and Oncidiums. I've been leaving the kitchen windows open at night now to hopefully force some new spikes. One of the Phals in my Orchidarium in the office is sending off buds from two existing spikes. Also, my mini Oncidium Twinkle White has teeny tiny spikes...I'll post some photos later.

This Green is one of my Paphs...it's been blooming for about two months now. It's way too hot and dry here to put orchids outdoors here...plus, with deer, turkeys, and skunks coming down out of the woods behind us, I'm afraid my orchids wouldn't last long. We've had nice cool evenings now, so I'm looking forward to more new spikes on my babies. My purple Paph hasn't bloomed in several months, but there's evidence of new leaves...so I'm hopeful. I do keep my orchids and African violets together...they really compliment each other, and of course, creat more humidity for each other.

Lydia, it sounds like you have a much bigger groundhog problem than I do! Funny thing is that our groundhog does not touch the tomatoes (although the chipmunks eat the ones that hang low on the plants). I guess that's because he is so obsessed with…

Thanks Mia and Tanya. These busy eaters will pretty much polish off all the Passion Vine leaves. Not to worry, they come back with a 'passion.'
