Short of fabric, anyone have any suggestions of what has worked for them on leaf borers on beets and spinach?

Hello everyone. I haven't been here for awhile as it's been a busy time in the garden. I wondered how many of you have discovered daylily gall in your daylilies yet? I was told by a fellow garden club member that I had and have been ding research. Please check your daylilies. Below is a link to a website that describes it.

Thankfully not all my daylilies are affected!

Beautiful photo GydaMarie and deck too! Harry, your rasberries impress me!
I've been enjoying every minute I can but have to stay out of the direct sun. I chase the shade and it works fine as I have a lot of shade throughout the day in my yard, both front and back so I'm lucky there. The pergola is shaded in the morning and the patio is shaded in the afternoon. Actually the pergola is shaded off and on throughout the day. As soon as the vines grow it will be a lot more shade! We have lots of beautiful old trees all through our neighboorhood so there is always, I mean always, something to clean up. I'm loving the weather. Thank you Lord for summer!

Harry, Your raspberries sound yummy!!! My daylilies are finally beginning to bloom. It's a spectacular day here in Spokane! Everyone enjoy...our summer sunshine is waaaaay overdue. :)

I ate the first two raspberries from my little plot and lots more are beginning to make an appearance.

Hope there will be many many more in the next couple of weeks.

Things are finally beginning to bloom, and now it's wonderful to sit on my deck each morning and take in all the new blooms and watch all my birds feed, bathe, and just generally make a delightful ruckus!!!

Sheron: Had to laugh when I reread my comment...She's not growing pot..that I know of anyway..better read my posts a little better. So much rain here that my iris are a lost cause....strawberries look good but we're about a month behind everyone else..usually the last picking around the 4th of July..not this year. Carrots are just coming up and planted those in a whiskey barrel ...love fresh baby carrots. that's it for this year.

Barbara, when I read Sheri's comment to you tell me that your daughter is doing "pot gardening", I can see what she means by a "good morning laugh"! I've been way too busy. More later. Ha ha good night

I have replanted twice....the second planting of beans is just comming up, so far they do not look to bad! But I'm lucky I have not lost all my strawberries....I think I may have saved them by placing hay under the fruit....I'll have to see how they ripen.

Barbara,

Only those with green houses had any luck up till now.

I think it may finally be time for us to get those seeds in the ground. Weather is supposed to be sunny for several days in a row. I think the beans I planted earlier have all rotted and I need to start over.

Lydia, it sounds like you have a much bigger groundhog problem than I do! Funny thing is that our groundhog does not touch the tomatoes (although the chipmunks eat the ones that hang low on the plants). I guess that's because he is so obsessed with…

Thanks Mia and Tanya. These busy eaters will pretty much polish off all the Passion Vine leaves. Not to worry, they come back with a 'passion.'

Pretty boisterous thunderstorms in the middle of last night. Hubby slept through it. Our lovable mutt Rudy had to be sedated.. poor baby but he was fine then. JoJo, our 7 mo. old goldendoodle almost bounced off the bed when one super loud thunder cl…
