Drilling a hole in a Bowling Ball
Using a masonry bit follow these tips:
1. Position the BB between 3 rocks or something else that will securely hold the ball on the ground while drilling.
2. Attach a long (at least as long as the diameter of the ball) masonry drill bit. Generally a 14" long 1/2" thick, depending on hole size needed, will do the trick.
3. Attach the drill bit to an electric drill and drill through the center of the ball by putting the drill bit down the thumb hole.
4. Take lots of breaks so that the ball and drill do not get too hot. It is safe to add a small amount of water into the hole as you drill.

Bowling Ball Fountain Bubbler
drill a bowling ball from both sides, starting in the thumb hole. This was a green ball w/green half marbles glued on. Use Silicone aquarium sealant .
Run pump tubing up through the bowling ball.
You can keep it running all winter with a bird bath heater.
Caution: The ball ball has a ceramic core, use a "Tile Setters Drill bit"!
The freeze and thaw could very well crack them. It depends on what your bb is made of. Rubber ones will sometimes crack left out in the freezing weather, the plastic ones will sometimes crack if left in very hot direct sun. A bird bath heater stops this from happening in the winter. It's a good idea to bring balls in during a hard winter.

outdoor adhesive like liquide nails is good too, usr it for the cut glass topeiry's made from plates ,bowls & vases
Do not use hot glue! it will fall apart in the cold= to remove hot glue from almost anything ust put in freezer & it it will peel off!

Diane, sorry for not making my message more clear - my reminder was about those shrubs that need to be scaled down and in my region (zones 5 & 6) the buds for the next season form on new growth in August so cutting the brunches after July would have…

Sheryl, that shouldn't be a problem, I have a seed feeder in close proximity and the humming birds seem happy enough to share. They just seem to perch on the tiny twigs where the big guys cant get to. Chech the surronding territory, perhaps someone…
