Flowers are fun and challenging to paint 3 Replies

You have to work fast to capture a flower in a painting because it might be gone the next day. Sometimes I shoot a photo for reference to finish the painting if I don't get all the details done at on…

I hope the marker was waterproof...I have recently painted windows that I put outside and now some of the paint is peeling off...not sure what to use next time but I plan to do others...I have another paint to try that I hope will work for glass outdoors. keep us posted once you finish.

Hello, Elizabeth - YES! It is VERY nice to have such a wonderful husband! I appreciate him, and just like you, I feel we are a team, even though he thinks I am the artist. He puts up with my "curb-shopping" and saving of odds and ends to "make something". I am truly blessed, and sounds like you are too. The paint I used was just a gloss acrylic. I used a sharpie marker for the black outlining. I have not sealed it yet, but I definitely will before putting it outside.

Lisa..isn't it nice to have such a cooperating husband...my husband is quick to do any little thing I need with my sometimes silly notions but he also finds the end results neat...I consider us a team even tho he thinks I am the artist I couldn't do it without him!! Very nice..waht kind of paint did you use on this? Did you seal it?

Let me add that perplexed hubby is also a wonderful hubby! He drilled a hole in the middle for me. :)

Am posting this here and in Funk And Flash...this is a hubcap that I found. It was grayish silver and cracked inside on one of the brackets. (Hubby thought I was nuts to pull over and pick it up!) I painted it white, then did a simple floral border. I am going to make it into the top of a bird feeder with a heavy frosted glass dome I found from an old lighting fixture. Will post again when finished! Having fun with it!

Sherri, I just love this watercolor of the blue jay. I joined a water color class last weekend and wouldn't you know it...we are painting birds. I am curious about how you achieved the background on your painting. It is so beautiful.

I don't compare to some of the painting on here but I sure do have fun with it :)

Lydia, it sounds like you have a much bigger groundhog problem than I do! Funny thing is that our groundhog does not touch the tomatoes (although the chipmunks eat the ones that hang low on the plants). I guess that's because he is so obsessed with…

Thanks Mia and Tanya. These busy eaters will pretty much polish off all the Passion Vine leaves. Not to worry, they come back with a 'passion.'

Pretty boisterous thunderstorms in the middle of last night. Hubby slept through it. Our lovable mutt Rudy had to be sedated.. poor baby but he was fine then. JoJo, our 7 mo. old goldendoodle almost bounced off the bed when one super loud thunder cl…
